Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
In our FAQ section, you’ll find all the key info on our urban protection device—how to install it, keep it running smoothly, and get the most out of it. We’ll also break down the legal basics for using it and keep you posted on the latest updates.
What is an urban protection device?
The urban protection device includes a control unit with a rechargeable battery and solar panel, plus one or more protective sheets depending on what you need, along with connection cables.
These sheets are custom-designed to stop dogs from peeing in specific spots or birds from landing and messing up windows, balconies, cornices, or other building features—whichever applies to your situation.
It runs on solar power or batteries and can be easily controlled right from your smartphone with our mobile app.
To get a better feel for how it works, check out the short demo videos on our homepage. When you buy the device, you can pick the type and number of protective sheets that fit your needs: for dog pee, birds, or both.
We’re gearing up to roll out even more details, real-world examples, and handy tips soon.
Is it harmful or dangerous to animals?
Nope—not at all. The urban protection device uses a tiny, harmless tingle that’s way weaker than a AAA battery and totally below any pain or danger threshold. You can’t even feel it with your fingers.
That said, sensitive spots like a dog’s mouth or urinary tract (or a bird’s feet) might pick up a faint tickle if they make direct contact—like when a dog pees on the sheet or a bird lands on it. Birds feel it a bit more because they’re so light. Dogs, though, are quick learners: after one or two weird tingles, they remember the spot and pick a better place to go (like a tree or a patch of grass). It’s all about gently nudging their habits—no harm, just smart redirection using their own smarts.
Is the urban protection device legal to use?
Absolutely, 100%. You have every right—sometimes even a duty—to protect your building’s exterior or entrance. Property owners can defend their space from misuse, like turning it into a public dog bathroom.
Our device doesn’t hurt, annoy, or attach to any animal. It simply and passively discourages bad behavior that’s already against the rules in most places.
What is a protective sheet?
It’s a super-thin sheet—just 1 mm thick—with a built-in circuit of tiny electrical conductors on the top side. It’s fully flexible, so you can bend it or trim it with scissors to fit any surface.
We currently offer two main sizes:
Large rectangular sheet (30 x 18 inches): perfect for protecting building facades, entryways, or street fixtures from dog pee.
Long narrow strip (16.5 feet long x ¾ inch wide): designed for balconies, window ledges, or cornices to keep birds from landing.
How long does the battery last?
The device sips power and runs 100% on solar under normal sunlight. But if it’s stuck in the shade or bad weather hits, it has a backup battery slot and a universal plug for any alternate power source. Pop in four 1.5V batteries (like standard AAs) and it’ll keep running at full power—even with up to 10 protective sheets hooked up—for at least a year.
Can I use the same device to protect both my building facade and balcony at the same time?
You bet. That’s exactly what it’s built for—and more. It comes with two independent connectors, so you can hook up separate groups of protective sheets to cover different areas without any hassle.
How and where do I install it?
The device is made to work on pretty much any surface and setup. You can stick it with heavy-duty adhesive, screw it in, or use whatever mounting method fits best for you or the spot. Installation is a breeze—no construction, no mods needed—and it locks in solid and lasts, whether it’s on public or private property.
When will it be available and how much will it cost?
We’re still in the prototyping and testing phase, but we’re aiming to hit the market spring 2026. We’ll share more details as we get closer. The basic kit (control unit + your choice of two protective sheets) is looking at around $190 + shipping. Final pricing, shipping terms, and pre-order info will be locked in when we launch the pre-sale.
What is conductive paint circuitry?
It’s the next big leap in our tech—coming down the pipeline. We’ll integrate the device straight into the surfaces you want to protect using conductive paint tracks that carry the tiny electrical signal. It’s sleeker, more versatile, and way more efficient. This upgrade marks the next major milestone on our roadmap: smarter, less visible, and even more seamless protection.
